Have you always wanted to make a necklace?
We have just the video for you! Follow along as accomplished jeweller, Katie Gardner, takes us through the steps of making a necklace using the Maun Snipe Nose Plier and Maun Soft Plastic Flat Nose Plier.
Introduction To Katie Gardner
Katie Gardner is a 20-year-old jeweller, currently studying BA Design for Industry at Birmingham City University. She loves to design simple, elegant jewellery with a unique twist. Her work is often inspired by the places around her.
Katie’s previous collection drew from the rich metalwork of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. She is currently exploring the sweeping curves and tangled lines of Spaghetti Junction.
What you'll need...
For the type of necklace Katie creates in the video you’ll need a chain of your choice. For our Diagonal Cutting Plier, we recommend cutting soft wire no thicker than 4.0 mm. Most jewellery chains should be comfortably under this threshold. You'll also need any number of gems you wish to include on your necklace, along with an equal number of jump rings.
Katie uses the Maun Snipe Nose Plier and Maun Soft Plastic Flat Nose Plier. The Soft Plastic Flat Nose Plier is the ideal plier when working with precious materials you’d wish to avoid scuffing. The Snipe Nose Plier is great for applying pressure to precise points, especially useful when working with small objects. Additionally, you'll need a ruler and wire cutter.
