Straight Edge Tools & Rulers

(Showing 4 of 4)

Precisely the edge you need.

There are straight edges. Then there are Maun straight edges.

More than just a guide for measuring, scoring, and cutting. Our precision straight edge tools are expertly engineered. For you to complete job after job in safety. Ensuring perfection, every time.

Maun straight edges. Surface-ground accuracy under 0.1 mm per metre.

Maun straight edges hold a true reference line across the full length, whether you're scoring a 500 mm leather workpiece or trimming a 3-metre vinyl floor. We surface-grind every steel edge from case-hardened carbon steel to under 0.1 mm per metre, an engineering-grade tolerance. We bevel the working edge so your eye sees the marking line without parallax error.

  • Surface-Ground Accuracy: We surface-grind every steel edge from case-hardened carbon steel to under 0.1 mm per metre. That tolerance is engineering-grade. Most marketplace alternatives are uncalibrated aluminium rulers stamped to far looser tolerances.
  • Aluminium Safety Profile: Our aluminium safety range adds a recessed finger channel and non-slip foam rubber backing. The recess keeps your fingers below the cutting plane when you're scoring vinyl, glass or wallpaper alongside the edge, and the foam stops the edge sliding mid-cut.
  • Three Material Lines: Each line in this range is engineered for a specific cutting or marking job: surface-ground carbon steel for precision marking, silver-anodised aluminium for safe cutting and stainless steel safety rules for classroom and craft use. We don't stretch one generic edge across the catalogue.
  • Range to 3 Metres: Our 27-product range spans 300 mm to 3000 mm in metric, plus 12 inches to 72 inches in imperial. Our 3-metre aluminium safety edge handles full-width wallpaper drops and flooring runs that shorter edges leave you joining mid-cut.
  • Made in Nottinghamshire: We surface-grind, machine and pack every steel edge in our Hamilton Road factory. Our engineering team averages 25 years of plier-making experience between them. We've held ISO 9001 certification for over 30 years.

Maun straight edges. From classroom safety rules to 3-metre wallpaper edges.

Our range covers everything from a 300 mm stainless safety rule for school art rooms up to a 1750 mm steel reference edge for engineering checks, with bulk-pricing on the safety rule for classroom equipping. We've sorted the highlights below by the work each one handles, so you can go straight to the model that fits your cutting or marking job.

  • Steel Straight Edge Metric 500 mm - Built for precision marking and leathercraft, this 500 mm steel edge is the smallest reference edge in our range. We surface-grind the carbon steel body to under 0.1 mm per metre across its 53 mm width, and bevel the working edge for unobstructed vision when you're scoring or scribing. We ship the edge in anti-rust paper packaging, which keeps the carbon steel surface true through workshop storage.
  • Steel Straight Edge Metric 1000 mm - Our 1-metre steel edge is the workhorse for wallpaper cutters, vinyl flooring fitters and joiners checking workpiece flatness. Our 53 mm width and 3.25 mm thickness give the edge enough mass to resist flex when you lean into a scoring cut, while our surface-ground finish maintains the under-0.1-mm-per-metre accuracy along the full length.
  • Aluminium Safety Straight Edge 1000 mm - For full-day cutting work alongside a Stanley knife, our 1-metre aluminium safety edge keeps your fingers below the cutting plane through a recessed channel along the back. Our foam-rubber backing stops the edge sliding on glossy substrates like glass or laminate, and the 10.5 mm thick aluminium body resists flex without weighing down a long cut.
  • Aluminium Safety Straight Edge 2000 mm - Our 2-metre aluminium safety edge is built for full-width wallpaper drops and full-length flooring runs. At 2000 mm our edge handles a single drop of wallpaper or a full vinyl plank length without joining mid-cut, and our foam-backed safety profile lets you score across the full length without worrying about an unguarded edge.
  • Metal Safety Rule 300 mm - Built for school art rooms, model-making benches and craft workshops, our 300 mm metal safety rule pairs an M-profile finger guard with a clear metric scale. Our bulk pricing drops the unit cost from £5 ex VAT to £2.08 at 30+ units. We set the 30+ tier to fit a school art-room budget when you're equipping a full classroom of cutting stations.
  • Steel Straight Edge Imperial 48" - For decorators and engineers working in imperial measurements, we surface-grind our 48-inch steel edge to the same under-0.1-mm-per-metre tolerance as the metric range. We bevel the working edge for the same parallax-free reference, with a 6 mm hanging hole for workshop storage.
